What if you weren’t afraid?
It’s the New Year, which means it’s a time for us to make resolutions for all the new fun and exciting things that we are going to want to achieve over the next 365 days. Have you ever asked yourself what’s the one thing you would want to do if you weren’t afraid?
Most of us will set goals on Dec 31 to achieve throughout 2018, but how many of them are we not fulfilling because of fear. So many of us live our lives the same day to day. We wake up in the morning, get ready to tackle the day, come home from our busy day at work to care for our families and loved ones, finally quiet down at the end of the night to get a restful sleep, only to wake up the next morning to do it all over again. What is that one thing that fear is making you hold back on? Take a minute to sit in a quiet space, clear your mind of all the everyday distractions and ask yourself… What would I do if I wasn’t afraid?
Well now that you have realized what that desire is, lets go over some tips that can help you achieve that dream.
1: Lets look at what obstacles are standing in your way of achieving it. What is blocking you or what have you been avoiding? Maybe its speaking up at your current job, confronting a relationship or making a health change. Fear can be so debilitating to us, that we often will make up excuses or avoid it all together.
2: Lets face that fear. Ask yourself what are you most in fear of. What factors are contributing to that fear, what triggers it and what power does it have over you. Also look at what ways it has been getting in the way of your happiness and success.
3: Lets Picture the life you want. Setting aside any judgement or expectations that other people may have, what would you be doing with your life right now? Make a list of as many things, big or small, that you would do if you weren’t afraid.
4: Lets get it. Now that you are aware of your true self and your desires, you can begin to take the steps to confront areas in your life that are not aligned with who you are. Try creating a few small, reasonable goals each week to get yourself on your way.
5: Lets Celebrate. Each time you succeed at overcoming an obstacle that has been standing in your way, CELEBRATE. Share that accomplishment with your loved ones, the people in your life who are supporting you and inspiring your future.
Change can be challenging, but this is your life! Commit yourself to the process and discover your passion in a healthy, honest way. Once you discover fear as an opportunity to move towards your future, it will have fewer limitation on your dreams. Allow the universe to guide you on your journey.
